You are invited to be entertained by the best art history lecture you will ever hear!

The leading speaker, published author, professor, curator in the world for the study of the Merger of Art and Science will be speaking at my gallery at 1016 Madison Avenue on Friday, June 7th at 6 15 pm.  It would my great pleasure to have you attend.

The speaker's name is Dr. Barney Lipscomb and he is the director of the collections at the Botanical Research Center of Texas.  This lecture is the best art history talk I have ever heard.  He will be speaking on the collections of Pierre Joseph Redoute watercolors of flowers that were assembled by Empress Josephine, wife of Napoleon.  It will focus on the influence of Carl Linnaeus who discovered a way of ordering all living things in 1735.  It is fully illustrated and absolutely entertaining, arresting and fast-paced.  You are guaranteed a wonderful time.

You are also invited to dinner afterward.

And now for something else that is just as exciting and worthwhile:

The best possible learning experience to ever understand Audubon is now available at 1016 Madison Avenue with the display of the "John Vickers Painter and his wife, Lydia Ethel Farmer Painter" collection of Audubon aquatints formed by them circa 1880.

Havell and Audubon cared deeply about perfection and came closer than anyone else in achieving it using gradations of color to create dimensionality.  Sadly, fading greatly reduces that effect as the gradations of color melts away.  The Painters above fully understood this 140 years ago and put together a collection of masterpieces that are superior to any set known to me.

If you truly want to learn what the intentions of Audubon and Havell were, a visit to 1016 Madison between now and June 22 would be worthwhile when this great collection will be sold
