----------------------------- Arader Galleries is excited to announce that last weekend’s auction was our most successful to date: the sale brought in an impressive $18,570,968 including a 25% buyer's premium. The 192-lot sale featured many of Mr. Arader’s favorite treasures, including profoundly important icons of natural history and cartography, beautiful examples of Audubon's Birds of America, and stunning oil paintings of American cities and European royalty. The sale comprised the finest works in Mr. Arader’s personal collection built over the course of his forty-year career. The sale’s expansive offering covered five centuries and included many of the most seminal, iconic, and unique works of art that Arader Galleries has to offer. The outstanding auction produced many notable highlights: Audubon's Great Horned Owl (Lot 24, $48,000), The Great Blue Heron (Lot 27, $287,500), The Common American Swan (Lot 31, $250,000). There were a number of stunning watercolors for sale that sold including works by Susan F. Bury (Lots 44 & 45), Fuertes (Lots 55 & 56), and Redoute (Lots 75-95). Many notable historical oil paintings sold including works by George Beck (Lots 104-106) and Thomas Birch (Lots 113-115). Next in the sale was an exhaustive offering of rare maps. Highlights included: works by Apianus, Cimerlinus, Forlani, Blaue, Ortelius and more. An extremely rare Nicholas Scull map of Philadelphia with the state house printed on Silk sold for $487,500 (Lot 147). To close the sale, Mr. Arader offered a number of historical portraits featuring the only known painting of Abraham Oretelius created during his lifetime (Lot 180), which sold for $406,250.
