where I learned to write - not boarding school or Yale for sure
My writing teachers were:
my dad and his friends - Walter Annenberg, Stanley Marcus, Pete Musser, Ralph Roberts, Saul Steinberg, Milton Shapp. Leonard Lauder who also mentored me
It was Annenberg who taught me to be brief and never, never, never use the word "I"
best Annenberg story:
Rupert Murdoch begged Annenberg to sell him TV Guide in 1988
The price was 3b
Murdoch wanted guarantees, proof, promises.
Annenberg said "The only guarantee you are going to get is that there will be no guarantees"
Annenberg then gave ALL 3 billion to Penn that my father facilitated
Murdock sold TV Guide for 2b 10 years later in 1998
Everyone wants what they cant have.
In boarding school I played squash and masterbated 7 times a day.
