Post Office Closings

Luddites were people in England (1811-1816) who burned down and destroyed labor saving textile machinery factories because they were angry that they were losing their jobs.

Far too much of our resources are spent keeping post offices and libraries open for the same reason. The only difference is that unions can now lobby politicians because they cant burn down the internet which has replaced the work that their members were doing.

Starbucks should take over the postoffices and make coffee shops the community centers just like they were in the 18th century in London and 1/50th of all libraries should become museums of rare books with all the others closing.

It will happen. The only question is how long it will take.

Meanwhile WSJ writers continue to write articles with disappointing historical perspective and a passion for sensationalism.
