Congratulations to Sothebys - May 10, 2011 catalog of Natural History and Travel Books
During a time when getting good material is getting progressively more difficult, Sotheby's rare book team in London has amassed a truly amazing sale for May 10th. It is certainly worth looking through their catalog to see some of the fine works they have been able to turn up!
Selections for this season except for the early December 2011 Hesketh sale at Sothebys in London have been dismal compared to earlier years. This offering is a welcome relief that fine Natural History, Atlases and Travel books are still out there to be acquired.
In this sale are some fine natural history works, solid American maps and a number of world maps of considerable historical importance. My guess is that some lots will sell for as much as ten times the high estimate especially the impossibly rare Bradley map of the United States.
If you have any questions about the sale we are happy to give you our thoughts and represent you for no fee.
