Neal Auction Company Summer Estates Auction Recap- $140,000 to our Nation's Charities!

Arader Galleries is proud to announce the successful completion of the third charity auction organized by W Graham Arader III. The sale, held at the Neal Auction house in New Orleans on June 25th, totaled over $850,000 of which 20% of the hammer price, $140,000, went directly to the charity of the buyer’s choice.
The sale consisted of 124 lots comprised of 85 iconic John James Audubon prints, a selection of John Gould’s Hummingbirds, historically significant maps of the South, antiquarian books, and fine natural history prints. Highlights include John Disturnell’s highly important 1847 “Mapa de los Estados Unidos de Mejico” used to settle the treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo for $107,550, Kendall and Nebel’s 1851 “The War Between the United States and Mexico Illustrated” for $68,712, and John James Audubon’s “Common American Swan” for $59,750.

The strong prices achieved at Neal Auction house are indicative of the enduring interest and perennial value of historically significant Americana even in the midst of difficult financial times. Many of the South’s most prominent collectors where present either by phone or in person.

With the Sotheby’s Summer 2009 sale generating $291,000, Neal Fall 2010 sale generating $130,000, and the Neal Summer 2011 sale generating $140,000, Graham Arader has successfully raised over $560,000 for charitable institutions through his charity auctions.
