Now that Russia is the closest ally to the United States it gives me great pleasure to be involved with historical research there.

Dear Graham,

I understand from the Dutch Embassy in Moscow that the Barents books finally were delivered by the printer and that copies will be sent to you.
I hope you like the result, I think the combination of your prints and the story of the historical voyages and the archaeological expedition has a special effect. I would like to thank you again for your assistance and contribution to this project.

Best wishes

Jerzy Gawronski

I own the only set of De Bry engraving with original color illustrating Barents voyage to Russia in the 16th century.  They are using images of my engravings for a book on this subject.

The story of Dutch traders taking over and holding the commerce of the Spice trade in the late 16th centruy up to the middle of the 20th is absolutely amazing.

Here is more correspondence:

Dear Graham,

Today I am sending you 5 complimentary copies of the book. Thank you very much once again for kindly making the illustrations available.
I have asked the publisher Vladimir Kulakov, who reserved 40 copies for you, to contact you about the transaction.

Kind regards and have a nice weekend,
Pavel

Dear Mr. Arader,

I am pleased to inform you that the work on the Russian edition of the
Barentsz expedition diary is at last coming to an end. The book will
come out in May 2011, to be in time for the presentation in Arkhangelsk,
scheduled for May 23.
On May 27, the second presentation of the book will take place in St.
Petersburg, and on May 31, one more presentation in Moscow.

At the end of the book, the publisher is planning to make a section
'people who contributed' (the credits). The publisher and this Embassy
find that you should be included, with many thanks for the precious
illustrations. Will you please send me your photo and a couple of
sentences about yourself, to be placed in the book?

Thank you very much in advance,

Kind regards,
