It was a privilege to attend the 7th annual Everglades Foundation benefit this past Friday in Palm Beach, Florida to both support the restoration efforts of America’s Everglades, to which I have already donated $5,000, and to support my dear friend and true philanthropist Paul Tudor Jones, Chairman.
The Everglades is vital to Florida and the nation. Not only is it one of the nation’s most important natural treasures, it is also the primary source of water for millions of South Floridians and the supporter of billions of dollars in industry and millions of jobs. The future of Florida depends on a healthy Everglades. All of the leading presidential candidates as well as President Obama recognize its value and have made a conscious effort to mention its conservation in the public forum.
Paul’s passion is contagious. Under his phenomenal leadership, the event was a huge success. The world renown Dave Matthews band performed, and countless special guests were in attendance including eleven- time World Surfing Champion Kelly Slater. It was truly a night to remember and a cause that is very worth our nation’s attention and generosity.
