A selection of first edition elephant folio aquatint engravings with original hand-color by John James Audubon published in London between 1827 and 1838 by Robert Havell.


In addition, you will see a fine group of watercolors on vellum by the Pierre-Joseph Redoute (1759-1840) the ‘Raphael’ of French Flower Painting, hand colored lithographs by George Catlin (1796-1872) from the North American Indian Portfolio (London: 1844 – 48), watercolors on vellum by Adrien de Montigny originally from the collection of Charles de Croy, Fourth Duke of Aarschot, The First Sea Chart Relating to North America to Use Gerard Mercator’s Projection by Johannes Loots (Amsterdam, ca. 1695) and An Early and Highly Sophisticated Original Manuscript Map of the Great Lakes, the Northeast, and Nova Scotia, by the First American-Born Cartographer Jean-Baptiste de Couagne (1687-1740) from Paris, late 1711 - early 1712.
