Alan Hooker makes a wonderful gift to the University of South Carolina

Dear Alan,
As a university president I have many opportunities to be grateful and to thank people directly. However, your generous donation is not offered out of routine or obligation. Graham has started a national movement of teaching and learning through the art of natural history and I hope that the University of South Carolina will remain at its center.
We will search for vital, public spaces at the elegant President's House for your Eherts. They will inspire students and other visitors for generations to come. Perhaps you will visit them, and me, someday.
With best Thanksgiving wishes.
Harris

Thank you Harris
This e mail introduces you to Alan Hooker - a Yale Graduate who was a very successful lawyer in NYC for many years. He is now retired. An e mail from you would mean the world to him.
He may or may not decide if a visit from you is something that is convenient for him at this time.
Best,
Graham
Dear Alan
It turns out that Harris Pastides, President of the Univ of South Carolina, is in LA this week. He is deeply appreciative of your gift of the Eherts and is looking forward to use your gift to inspire the visitors to the President's House in the Horseshoe at the Univ of South Carolina.
I know that because of your health a visit from Harris might now be convenient for you but he is offering.
Harris is a superstar visionary learning a great University in one of the poorest states in the country. He makes it work with creativity and integrity.
Hope you two can find a way to get to know each other.
Please send him your preferred e mail.
Best,
Graham

BIG WINAlan Hooker of Los Angeles has just donated 4 George Ehert Tulips to USC. They are the finest engravings of flowers published in the 18th century
They would be absolutely splendid in the President's house. Truly glorious
Am getting possession sometime next week I hope.
This has taken two years of patient work. Happy to send you jpegs if you wish. But they will make the room they are in.
Also need to know how late USC is going to be open this year. Lots of donations right at the end it seems
Best,Graham
