The root of the ISIS conflict is not religion.
This conflict is fueled by the monumental greed and selfishness of the 1% of the Arab population that takes 99% of the benefit of oil revenue. They live on their yachts with prostitutes and drugs with no compassion for their fellow Arabs whatsoever.
ISIS has this group of miserably poor people all as possible recruits who see no social justice in the distribution of wealth in their countries. This is not about religion. It is about a horrid standard of living that is now prevelant.
This Middle East problem is never going to go away until a visible, effective social welfare system is established.
Why this should be the business of the United States is a mystery to me.
