Prices Realized for the August 5th Auction
We are thrilled to announce that our August 5th sale was great success! Held in conjunction with Guernsey’s, the sale featured material focusing on privateering and the expansion of empires in the Caribbean and Gulf region during the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries.
The auction achieved $886,656 in total. The highlights included John Disturnell's seminal map of the United States and Mexico (Lot 8), which went for a price of $85,400. Following a series of rapid bidding, Louis Fuertes' Flamingos (Lot 40) sold for $122,000. Another highlight was the Thomas Jeffreys West India Atlas (Lot 59) which achieved $30,500.
Our next auction is Saturday September, 19 at 1pm at the 1016 Madison Avenue Location of Arader Galleries and will feature works by John James Audubon, Karl Bodmer, Dr. Robert John Thornton, and a variety of rare maps, views and natural history works on paper.
