November 2017 Auction Prices Realized

Dear Friends,

Arader Galleries had another successful auction this weekend on Saturday Novemer 18th. The 199 lot sale featured a wide array of natural history prints, rare books, maps and views and totaled $829,407. The auction began with Audubon's Birds of America and Quadrupeds of North America as usual. The highlights were the Frigate Pelican selling for $18,300 and the Female Bison selling for $23,790. 

In the book section a number of interesting works sold including an octavo version of Audubon's Quadrupeds for $2,413, a presentation copy to Whipple of Pacific Railroad surveys for $8,540 and a nice copy of Oldmixon's British Empire in America for $2,413. In the maps the highlights were a beautiful original color copy of Loots and Goos' Map of the Atlantic for $42,700, De L'Isle's Map of Lousiana for $14,640 and the Ptolemy / Waldseemuller World Map for $17,080.  

We are looking forward to our next scheduled sale on January 27th, 2018. It will coincide with the Winter Antiques Show where Arader Galleries will be exhibiting at the Park Avenue Armory. The sale will offer a selection of John James Audubon and Robert Thornton, as well as a fine collection of rare books and atlases, and a varied offering of maps and views including a wonderful selection of Texana material. Our online catalogs will be available later in December via Live Auctioneers and Invaluable and our paper catalogs will follow in the New Year.
