Arader Galleires November 16th, 2019 Auction Prices Realized

This Saturday marked another successful auction at Arader Galleries!  We are delighted to announce our well attended sale totaled $2,903,344. The 85 lot sale featured a selection of outstanding material including excellent examples of John James Audubon's Birds of America as well as original natural history watercolors and beautiful color-plate books by John Gould and Francois Levaillant.

Highlights were the stunning Audubon Fish Hawk or Osprey (Lot 9, $158,750), the Great Blue Heron (Lot 30, $387,500), and the Louisiana Heron (Lot 33, $212,500). Also a number of original watercolors sold including Barbara Dietzsch's Convulvulus Flowers (Lot 56, $21,250) and John Gould's original watercolor for this Partridges of America (Lot 58, $31,250).

Finally a large selection of John Gould's colorplates books sold including his Birds of Asia, Australia, Europe, Great Britain and many others (Full price information can be seen below).

Our next auction will be January 25th, 2020 featuring many more aquatints from John James Audubon's "Birds of America", as well as fine maps, natural history engravings and rare books. The auction will coincide with the Winter Antique Show at the Park Avenue Armory (Booth D4) and we hope to see you at both events!
