My response to a Professor of Public Health at Columbia that my post of May 1 lacked an understanding of the purpose of a lock down.

Thank you for your thoughts.  

Do you agree that the total number of deaths thus far from this virus is less than the number of deaths in TWO DAYS (300,000) that normally die in the world?

The social fabric is being ruined.   Tens of millions, maybe hundreds of millions of people are going to die as a result.   That is a lot more than 300,000.  

The weapons obtained from our 800b a year expense gives Trump unlimited power to exact vengeance on the Chinese and their passion for eating animals just as they are dying.   Do you really think they wont be used.    Hope you are right.  

My strongest belief is in the teleological component of sophisticated men.   Now more than ever these 18,000 nuclear warheads have a chance to come alive after 75 years of lying dormant.  The brightest people from Cal Tech and MIT have been building them for eight decades and the psychic force behind this massive (and tragic, maybe evil) grey matter expense may be overwhelming. 

Mother nature has found a way to get rid of the people that have polluted her planet - many people over my age of 69.   Time for us to be willing to give our young a chance to rule.  Incredible that our choice of the next president is going to be two demented old men - a horror.  The power of old people is simply wrong.

Our society values life far, far too much because old people rule.  Our short term worries about 1m people dying has now ruined us.   The Presidents of Sweden and Brazil got it right.  

This current virus is puny.  What if the next one kills off 40% of the planet because it is much harder to discover, is more lethal and is impossible to kill off?  Crazy to ruin the lives of 7.8b people to save 1m. 

Do you think the 600,000 Jews in Germany in 1923 (I got the date wrong - the inflation was 1923 not 1933) could ever have imaged that the most evil acts in all of history could have occurred in the following decade as a result of the opportunity given to Hitler by the creation of so much money.    This is Trump's dream opportunity no different than the ones for Hitler, Napoleon, Mao or Stalin.   Some mornings I wake up hoping that the last 60 days were just a bad dream. 

This virus is nothing compared to what is coming for sure.  You public health experts are playing into the hands of a monster.  You have made the wrong decision. 

The proof is what all my Goldman friends say about Mnuchin.  His action are no more intellectually sound than an electric shock to an amoeba.   He is Trump's facilitator.    Open up your mind to what could happen in a year not two weeks.
