The time that i turned down extortion by a New Yorker writer almost 40 years ago.
Regarding Mark Singer, he lived with the most perfect woman in our Yale Class for close to 4 years - a seriously voluptuous, dark skinned beauty appropriately named "Rhonda."
He approached me for a story 14 years after we graduated and still in awe of this Lothario I accepted. After a year of following me around writing a 10,000 word New Yorker Profile, the inevitable issue of finding a way to afford his ageless, radiant bombshell came up.
Was I foolish to angrily decline?
The profile set me back 10 years and in many ways still follows me almost 40 years later.
Fortunately my passion for European and American iconography still consumes me.
